Background
Nuclear forensics is the examination of nuclear and other radioactive material using analytical techniques to determine the origin and history of this material in the context of law enforcement investigations or the assessment of nuclear security vulnerabilities. The results of the examination support the response to the unauthorized use of these materials and help States make informed decisions to improve their nuclear security practices.
This webinar will take a broad look at the field of nuclear forensics and its applications in bolstering nuclear security.
Objectives
The objectives of the webinar are:
- To engage the international nuclear security community in an open discussion about key issues related to nuclear forensics that were identified at ICONS 2024 as well as relevant challenges.
- To provide a platform for information exchange and strengthening international cooperation for nuclear security.
