IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano met with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in Vienna on 4 July, as part of the regular high level dialogue between the IAEA and Iran. They discussed the IAEA’s safeguards activities in Iran. As requested by the United Nations Security Council and authorised by the IAEA Board of Governors, the IAEA is verifying and monitoring Iran’s implementation of its nuclear-related commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Director General Amano said the IAEA is closely following developments related to the JCPOA and reiterated that the JCPOA represents a significant verification gain.
