    General uses

    Tritium is most commonly used for glow in the dark lighting when combined with phosphorus. Tritium also has uses in the biomedical field as a tracer material as well as use in fusion reactors.

    When used to illuminate signs, no electricity is required.

    Risks

    Tritium is only weakly radioactive and cannot penetrate the skin. Health risks are limited and require large amounts to have any health effects. Risks are limited to ingestion through drinking water or contaminated food or through inhalation of contaminated air. Tritiated water can also be absorbed through the skin.
