Regional Research Reactor School
Objectives
The event is intended to assist participating Member States in Asia, Africa and Europe in building nuclear competence and providing hands-on training for young professionals on the operation of research reactors. The event also aims to enable the participants to develop their technical skills; provide some background information to allow them to safely operate research reactors; and familiarize them with the basic aspects of nuclear reactors.
Target Audience
This training event is intended for young professionals with a technical degree in nuclear engineering, nuclear physics, or related fields. Their current or future assignment is generally linked to existing research reactor facilities or reactors in advanced planning stage. Participants from Member States planning to embark or embarking on a nuclear programme, can also gain benefit from attending this school. In total up to 10 candidates will be selected.
Expected Outputs
The programme of this training event will familiarize young professionals with basic aspects connected to nuclear research reactors and related facilities and develop basic technical skills necessary to carry out activities related to safe operation and utilization of research reactors. The report of the event will collect experiences and lessons learned from theoretical classes and hands-on experimental activities.
