    Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Science and Technology: Addressing Current and Emerging Development Challenges - Practical Information

    Registration

    Online pre-registration has closed. Participants can register through a Note Verbale containing the composition of the delegation or by sending the completed Participation Form (Form A) through the competent official authority – the Permanent Mission to the IAEA, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the National Atomic Energy Authority.

    On-site registration at the Vienna International Centre, Gate 1, will be open on Monday, 26 November from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Tuesday, 27 November 2018 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and will continue on Wednesday, 28 November 2018 from 7:30 am, throughout the Conference. Participants are encouraged to take advantage of registration Tuesday, 27 November 2018. Participants should bring their passports with them for identification purposes and access to the premises.

    Permanent Missions wishing to authorize a member of their delegation to collect badges on behalf of their delegation are requested to advise the Secretariat?of this in writing by Monday, 26 November 2018.

    Credentials

    Credentials for the Head of Delegation are not required.

    Conference Opening

    Wednesday, 28 November 2018, 9:30 a.m.

    Reception

    The Director General will host a reception on Wednesday, 28 November 2018, at 6:30 p.m. at the IAEA's Headquarters in Vienna, Austria.

    Documentation

    The provisional programme is available on the Conference website and will be continually updated as more information becomes available.

    National statements and presentations from the panel sessions will be posted on the Conference website and on the IAEA Conference and Meetings App after delivery.

    Working Languages

    The working languages of the Conference will be the six official languages of the IAEA: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.

    Ministerial Segment

    The Ministerial Segment will commence at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, 28 November 2018, in Board Room B/M1, M Building of the Vienna International Centre.

    Board Room B/M1 has the seating capacity to accommodate 850 delegates. Each delegation will be allocated four seats – two seats at the table and two seats behind. There will be limited additional seating in Board Room B/M1. The seating arrangement for delegations will be in English alphabetical order.

    Live streaming will be available throughout the duration of the Ministerial Segment in two overflow rooms, Board Room A and M2 in the M Building.

    National Statements

    To make the best use of time available and to accommodate all speakers, Ministers and other Heads of Delegations are kindly reminded to keep the length of their statements to a maximum of five (5) minutes.

    Ministers and Heads of Delegation will speak in the order determined by the speakers’ ballot and following the practice of giving priority to Ministers.

    To facilitate interpretation and distribution, the text of statements to be delivered should be provided in advance to the 'Conference Service Desk'?located in the Conference Hall, or send an email.

    All statements received will be made available on the Conference website (see below) in PDF format, unless the distribution is restricted by the delegation. In such a case, this should be clearly marked on the statement. Hard copies of the statements made during the Ministerial Segment will not be distributed.

    Optional Visit to the IAEA's Nuclear Applications Laboratories in Seibersdorf

    The Department of Nuclear Applications maintains twelve laboratories, eight of which are located just outside Vienna in Seibersdorf, Austria.? These labs conduct applied research, deliver training and capacity building, and provide technical and analytical services to Member States.

    Delegates to the Ministerial Conference are invited to join one of three tours of the Nuclear Applications laboratories, and view progress in the ongoing effort to renovate those laboratories (known as the ReNuAL project), on Monday or Tuesday of the Conference week, selecting from the choices below.

    To reserve a place on one of these tours, please send an email to NALabs@IAEA.org with the delegate’s full name, position, country name, and preferred tour date/starting time as soon as possible, but not later than Monday, 19 November 2018.

    Visas

    If participants require a visa for Austria, they should contact the nearest consular representative of Austria as soon as possible. Delegations should further check the information available here.

    Accommodation

    Participants are expected to make their own travel and hotel arrangements. Please note that the IAEA cannot assist with hotel bookings and cannot be held responsible for any cancellation fees or re-bookings.
