    Burkina Faso Signs its Third Country Programme Framework (CPF) for 2017–2022

    Mr Shaukat Abdulrazak, Director, Division for Africa, Department of Technical Cooperation, and Mr Filiga Michel Sawadogo, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation,?at the signing ceremony?held on 14 December 2016 in Ouagadougo, Burkina Faso.

    Mr Filiga Michel Sawadogo, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation and Mr Dazhu Yang, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, have signed Burkina Faso’s Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period of 2017–2022 on 14 December 2016, and 5 December 2016 respectively.

    A CPF is the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals.

    Burkina Faso has been an IAEA Member State since 1998. Its 2017–2022 CPF identifies 5 priority areas:

    • Agriculture and food security
    • Human health
    • Water and the environment
    • Energy
    • Radiation safety and security
