    IAEA Launches New Webinar Series on Nuclear Security

    One year after the successful ICONS 2024 conference on nuclear security, the IAEA is launching a webinar series titled ‘Nuclear Security – Looking Beyond ICONS 2024’.?

    The series will cover nuclear security topics related to the core themes of ICONS 2024, such as policy, law and regulations, technology and infrastructure, capacity building, and other cross-cutting nuclear security topics.?

    The series consists of monthly webinars designed to provide up to date details on the latest developments in the field and discuss shared challenges and issues.???

    “The momentum built at the International Conference on Nuclear Security: Shaping the Future, in May 2024, when over 2000 participants representing the global nuclear security community gathered at the IAEA headquarters, continues to inspire us,” said Elena Buglova, Director of the IAEA’s Division of Nuclear Security. “The initiative for the webinar series was created in response to feedback from participants during the ICONS 2024 impact assessment, who asked for more opportunities to learn and engage between ICONS conferences.”??

    The webinar series is open to policy makers and nuclear security professionals involved in the establishment, strengthening and sustainability of national nuclear security regimes.??

    First webinar on 18 June

    The first webinar titled ‘Looking Back and Looking Forward, Shaping Nuclear Security through ICONS’ is scheduled on 18 June 2025. Panellists include Ian Biggs and Mukhtar Tileuberdi, Ambassadors and Resident Representatives to the IAEA from Australia and Kazakhstan, respectively, representing the co-Presidents of ICONS 2024.

    ICONS: a forum for ministers, high-ranking officials and technical experts

    In recent years, the IAEA’s International Conference on Nuclear Security (ICONS) has become a key event for the nuclear security community around the world. ICONS 2024?was the fourth ICONS at the ministerial level, while previous ICONS were hosted by the IAEA in 2013, 2016 and 2020. ?
