    Description

The proposed CRP F43027 will collect, evaluate and recommend fundamental data concerning the formation, spectroscopic properties, collisional properties and reactions of molecular species in the boundary plasmas of magnetic confinement fusion devices. The CRP will establish a trusted repository of evaluated data concerning these species, particularly H2 and its isotopologues and hydrides of light elements and tungsten, which are relevant to the diagnostics, simulation and safety assessment of fusion energy experiments and reactors

    Objectives

To support experimental and theoretical nuclear fusion energy research in IAEA Member States by providing trusted data for the properties of molecules in near-wall plasmas, and thereby to contribute to the development of fusion energy generation.

    Specific objectives

Assemble, evaluate and recommend data needed for modelling the behaviour of molecular hydrogen and molecular impurities in the edge plasma region of magnetic-confinement fusion devices.

Aggregate experimental data on molecules in edge plasmas to facilitate the evaluation of the fundamental molecular data and to validate their use in edge plasma modelling codes.

Coordinate code comparison activities involving calculations of relevant molecular data by different computational techniques to help assess uncertainties in calculated data.

Coordinate simulation studies to assess the sensitivity of outputs of edge plasma modelling codes to uncertainties in molecular data.

Conduct a bibliographic review on data relevant to the CRP for inclusion in the IAEA's AMBDAS and ALADDIN / CollisionDB databases.
