The CRP will focus on experimental data from test facilities and safety related modelling tools that are used in the development and/or licensing of molten salt reactors. In this CRP, participating Member States will conduct exchange of expertise, experience, and consolidated information on experimental testing and code-to-code benchmarking performed for validation of design and safety related modelling tools in the framework of technology development for molten salt reactors including associated fuel cycle facilities.
Objectives
To assess state-of-the-art in the area of experimental testing and multiphysics tools for neutronics-thermo-hydraulics analysis of MSR;
To assess the progress in the development of simulation methods for MSR operational and transient behaviours including fuel salt matrix retention in severe accidents;
To perform burnup analysis including circulation of precursors of delayed neutrons and fission product distribution in MSR plant essential for safety and non-proliferation at normal and accidental conditions;
To perform radiation damage analysis of MSR graphite and metallic structural components;
To study tritium behaviour in MSR plant;
To investigate thermodynamics fuel salt properties and perform analysis of compatibility of materials in high-temperature environment in MSR.
