Country Nuclear Power Profiles

Initiated within the framework of the IAEA’s programme on assessment and feedback of nuclear power plant performance, the Country Nuclear Power Profiles (CNPP) meets the requirement for a database and a technical publication containing background information on the status and development of nuclear power programmes in countries having operating nuclear plants and/or plants under construction and in countries actively engaged in planning such a programme. This is the seventh edition of the Country Nuclear Power Profiles, which updates the country by country information to the end of 2007. It reviews the organizational and industrial aspects of nuclear power programmes in the countries which participated, and provides information about the relevant legislative, regulatory and international framework in each country. It compiles the current issues in the electricity and the nuclear sectors, i.e. energy policy, privatization and deregulation of these sectors, the role of government, nuclear power development, nuclear energy and climate change, and safety and waste management, which differ from country to country.
