  • Whistle-blower policy

The IAEA has established a Whistle-blower policy to facilitate the confidential reporting of suspected fraud, corruption or misconduct and to protect whistle-blowers against identity disclosure and retaliation.?

Anyone with information indicating possible fraud, corruption or misconduct is, in the case of a staff member, required to report the information, and, in the case of a non-staff member, urged to report the information. While whistle-blowers are encouraged to include their contact details (name, address and/or phone number) for further information or clarification, they may also choose to remain anonymous. In any case, the identity of internal and external whistle-blowers is kept confidential. Staff members reporting misconduct or cooperating with audits and investigations are entitled to protection from retaliation, and are supported in this regard by an independent Ethics function.

The reported allegation should provide as much detail as possible:

    • What happened?
    • Who was involved?
    • Where did it take place?
    • When did it take place?
