Photon nuclear data describing interactions of photons with atomic nuclei are of importance for a variety of applications ranging from radiation shielding and radiotherapy to inspection technologies and transmutation of nuclear waste. The CRP will measure, compile, assess and evaluate photonuclear data and photon strength functions to update the IAEA Photonuclear Data Library (2000) and generate a new reference database of Photon Strength Functions.
Objectives
Provide good-quality and reliable photon nuclear data?to users in nuclear applications such as radiation shielding, radiotherapy, inspection technologies, fission and fusion reactor technologies, transmutation of nuclear waste and astrophysical nucleosynthesis.
Specific Objectives
Provide evaluated and recommended photon strength function data
Obtain new experimental photonuclear data
Provide updated evaluated photonuclear data
