Nuclear Safety, Security and Safeguards in Ukraine

    Donors

Since the start of the armed conflict in February 2022, the IAEA has closely monitored and assessed the situation at Ukraine’s nuclear facilities, reporting its findings in a timely manner. The IAEA is committed to providing technical support and assistance for ensuring the safe and secure operation of nuclear facilities and activities involving radioactive sources, and the implementation of safeguards.

Following IAEA procedures, costs associated with the provision of technical support and assistance to Ukraine in nuclear safety and security, as well as the additional logistical costs for travel of safeguards staff, are secured from extrabudgetary resources.

The IAEA is grateful for contributions (financial and in-kind) from Member States and the European Union that enable the?IAEA’s efforts to reduce the risk of a nuclear accident in Ukraine, and welcomes any further support.
